Becoming a Catholic
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults):
The sessions normally begin in early September. The sessions will be on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Deacon Jerry Yetter and Mr. Rob Ogden lead the RCIA.
Anyone interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith and Sacraments, please let Fr. Joe know by calling him at 541-1563 or contact the rectory.
Deacon Ted Schmidt (1925-2011) was our first Deacon at St. Boniface. He was a big supporter of the R.C.I.A. program, and he and his wife Roselyn led it for several years. This is a story from him-
At another parish, Deacon Ted asked a man if he ever considered becoming Catholic.
"Sure" the man replied, "But no one ever asked me." Deacon Ted said "I'm asking" and the man started the R.C.I.A. process and was baptized at the Easter Vigil.
Do you know someone who you think may consider joining the church? Pray for them then ask. God will give you the right words to invite the person to consider the Catholic way of life. St. John tells us in his Gospel that John the Baptist led Andrew and John to Jesus. Then Andrew invitited his brother Simon Peter to meet Jesus. (John 1:35-42) This was the way the Church grew back then. It's the same way now.
